Goalie Army Academy - Goalie School - Goalie Camp - Goalie Training

Goalie School Training vs. Early Team Practices

Despite the multiple goalie camps and goalie schools available during the summer months, it’s no mystery that goalie schools provide minimal goalie training during August and September as tryouts are held at this time of the year.

Goalie schools may provide goaltender selection and evaluation consulting during the months of August and September to teams and associations, resulting in limited goalie training options.

Goalie Army Academy - Goalie School - Goalie Camp - Goalie TrainingAs many parents and goaltenders have come to
expect, the first months of every hockey season are front loaded with plenty of ice time, frequently used for pre-season conditioning, evaluations, exhibition games, and team practices.  The amount of ice time available for technical development then trickles off as the season progresses.

Getting Lost In the Shuffle

During most team practices, coaches ensure that conditioning and systems are a consistent theme in order to prepare their team for a successful season.  Unfortunately, despite there being no shortage of ice time, goaltenders don’t get the technical and tactical exercises and coaching which they would normally receive from their local goalie school, or if a goalie coach is not present during their team practices.

New Goalie School Training Available

To close the goalie training gap, our goalie school is available to provide goalie training to our students throughout the winter hockey season.

Starting in October, Goalie Army Academy will offer biweekly goaltender training sessions in the form of goalie school Clinics and Goaltender-Specific Power Skating sessions.  The curriculum for these goalie training sessions is designed to provide goaltenders with a broader understanding and benefits of the R3E System designed by Goalie Army Academy’s lead instructor, Rick Besharah, as well as aid in our students’ on-ice development.

The curriculum for these goalie training sessions is designed as a progressive development plan so that each session builds on previous training sessions.  Beginning this October, our goalie school will offer 7 goalie clinic session dates, and 3 Goaltender-Specific Power Skating dates in addition to being available to work with goalies during their team’s practices.

Goalie Clinic sessions will enable our students to receive technical and tactical training, as well as motivational feedback and coaching helping them to improve consistently throughout the hockey season while receiving no shortage of shots.

Our goalie school’s Goaltender-Specific Power Skating sessions will emphasize the importance of the utilization of direct movements, as well as discuss the theories and benefits of applying Goalie Army Academy’s R3E System.  During these sessions, we will be comparing the pros and cons of other theories and techniques which occur during games to further the knowledge of our students.  The Goaltender-Specific Power Skating sessions will also aid in our students’ improved balance and agility, explosive power, and speed while performing positional, standing, and sliding movements, butterfly drops, and of course, their overall skating abilities.

During all sessions, there will be plenty of coaching from our instructors in order to aid in our student’s technical development in addition to their physical development.
