Goalie Army Academy - Goalie Training and Goalie Camps

Our first success story of the season, Griffin Thiessen, begins a year ago.  Last year, Griffin was initially released by his association, obtained his release, and transferred to the Ottawa West Golden Knights Association where he made the Minor Atom B team.  Griffin worked very hard throughout the season with the help of his team’s goalie coach, and Goalie Army Academy by having Rick Besharah attend his practices.

Throughout the spring and summer, Griffin attended Goalie Army Academy’s spring and summer progressive development program which combines goalie clinic sessions with goaltender-specific power skating, as well as our pre-season conditioning program right before returning to his home association.

This season, Griffin made the Major Atom B team within his local hockey association.

Congratulations Griffin!

Next, a goalie for only two years, Ken Lithwick’s relentless drive to succeed at learning the position and becoming a better goaltender has led to his advancement from house league within the West End Hockey League, into competitive hockey with the Ottawa West Golden Knights.

When Goalie Army Academy began to work with Ken, his technique and overall abilities in his position were minimal.  What were apparent however, was his willingness to learn, and his passion for playing the position.  Over the past two years, Ken had become the competitive B team’s affiliate goaltender, and after two years of training with Goalie Army Academy’s goalie clinic partnership with the West End Hockey League, our spring and summer programs, as well as our pre-season conditioning program, Ken has proved himself to be capable of playing at the competitive level.

Approached by the team’s coach two years ago, Goalie Army Academy began to work with the Ottawa Sting’s Minor Peewee A team to help their goaltenders with applying a progressive development program for their goaltenders during their team practices.  One of the team’s goaltenders, Justin Lee, has attended various training sessions within Goalie Army Academy’s spring and summer progressive development programs via our goalie clinics, and pre-season conditioning programs over the past two years.

Last season, Justin played at the competitive B level as there was no Major Peewee A team, and this season, he has made the transition to playing at the Minor Bantam AA level for the Ottawa Sting.

Congratulations Justin!
Goalie Army Academy - Goalie Clinics and Goalie TrainingTwo years ago, Goalie Army Academy’s Rick Besharah began working with Griffin Forbes who was playing at the Minor Bantam B level at the time.  As the season went by, Griffin expressed a desire to advance himself in competitive hockey, by playing at a higher level of competition.

Rick Besharah worked with Griffin closely to ensure that his technique developed quickly by applying the R3E System, as well as worked with him to develop an easy-to-follow off-ice training program throughout the off-season.

Over the past two years, Griffin has shown an increased level of dedication by having Goalie Army Academy work with him during his team’s practices, he has attended various Goalie Army Academy goalie clinics, goaltender-specific power skating sessions, pre-season conditioning programs, and has taken his off-ice training regimen to a new level.  This season, Griffin will play for the Minor Midget AA team with the Ottawa Sting.

Congratulations Griffin!  (See what Griffin’s father, Kevin Forbes, had to say about Goalie Army Academy)

Goalie Army Academy - Goalie Clinics and Goalie TrainingThis season, Yeeren Chen will be playing at the Major Atom competitive level after playing at the house league level last season.  Throughout last year’s hockey season, Yeeren attended Goalie Army Academy’s goalie clinics with the West End Hockey League.

Throughout the off-season, Yeeren attended our Progressive Goaltender Development Clinics, Goaltender-Specific Power Skating, and our Pre-Season Conditioning Program sessions.  Yeeren has progressed from a goaltender who was obviously uncomfortable with his lack of skating ability and mobility, to a goaltender who has drastically improved his movement within his crease and who simplifies his game by applying the R3E System regularly to ensure overall efficiency in his role on his new team.

Congratulations Yeeren! (See what Yeeren’s father, Xiaodong Chen, had to say about Goalie Army Academy)
